Pins Net Play Description:

This Institute focuses on developing the complete front-row athlete through attacking and blocking mastery. Athletes will train their situational IQ to become smarter, more efficient offensive weapons while learning advanced concepts such as attack trajectory, tempo and timing, approach variations, using the block, and out-of-system scoring tactics including swipe, jam, mailbox, and recycle plays.

Defensively, players will develop aggressive and disciplined blocking through optimal footwork patterns, proper BSBH eye sequencing, visual awareness and reading, intentional hand positioning, pressing mechanics, diving, and flushing techniques.

The camp progresses from isolated attacking and blocking skill work into competitive drills, head-to-head challenges, and mini-games that combine both skills into true game-like net play.

What skill level am I?

Beginner

Athletes registering for a ‘Beginner’ Mini-Group would be athletes who are fairly new to volleyball with minimal to no club experience.

Intermediate

Athletes registering for an ‘Intermediate’ Mini-Group would be athletes who have club experience playing their position, but would not necessarily qualify for the ‘Advanced’ skill level. Here are a few examples:

  • Athletes who are experienced but are not on the ‘top’ team for their age-group at their club

Advanced

Athletes registering for an ‘Advanced’ Mini-Group would be athletes who are considered some of the very best in the area at their position. Here are a few examples:

  • High school athletes who are on the ‘top’ team for their age-group at their club; or

  • High school athletes who are varsity starters at their school

Please note that these skill levels are not meant to make anyone feel better/worse than anyone else and inherently vague. We will absolutely have situations where someone registers for the ‘wrong’ skill level. When this happens, everything will be OK!

If you are not sure what level your athlete should register for, or if you’d like an exception to be made, please email us!
